State Rep. Bronna Kahle (R-Adrian) released a roadmap to recovery for Lenawee County and the state, according to a press release on the Michigan House Republicans website.

“This has been a challenging, stressful time for all of us,” Kahle said in the press release. “COVID-19 has tragically claimed lives and upended livelihoods. But as strategies have helped flatten the curve and lower the caseload in many areas of our state, I am thankful for the opportunity to look ahead to better days."

Kahle said in the press release that she presented the roadmap to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and hoped it would be a plan to work for the entire state to come back from the pandemic.

"A one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work for the majority of Michigan," Kahle said in the press release. "This commonsense, data-driven regional approach would give our families, friends and neighbors some much-needed hope for the future."

Kahle's plan includes a transitional task force, which would place the state's counties in a tier-based system based on the coronavirus activity in that county, and then the counties would have restrictions based on that activity.

For example, she notes that Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties have nearly 80% of the state's positive cases, so those counties would have stricter restrictions than counties with less activity.

“While I understand the governor’s goal is to protect public health -- and I absolutely share that priority -- some of her restrictions have gone too far,” Kahle said, according to Michigan House Republicans. “Adopting a regional approach moving forward and using the federal safety guidelines, like our neighboring states, will help safely ease restrictions for Michigan families and workers more quickly. I have been listening to the people of Lenawee County, and I know we will get through this together -- and we will rebuild our way of life. This is a goal we can all support.”
