2022: 42 coaches at institutions in Jackson County earned on average $16,459

Jackson County’s 42 coaches earned an average salary of $16,459 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 14th lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Michigan post-secondary schools during 2022.

Jackson County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Spring Arbor University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $27,628.

Male coaches of men's teams received $20,482 on average in Jackson County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $19,903.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
