Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) joined Andy's Angels founder Mike Hirst, the Community Action Agency of Jackson and local leaders to celebrate Delta Dental of Michigan's significant investment in Andy's Place, a Permanent Supportive Recovery Housing (PSRH) initiative in Michigan.
"What a great cause," Shirkey posted on Facebook.
Andy's Place is a 50-unit residential facility developed to help those suffering from the opioid crisis. This will be the first such housing development in Michigan and the first program in the nation to use this treatment model. The goal is to provide long-term safe housing with access to support services in hopes of reducing risk of relapse.
A statement from Cinnaire said, "Working with public and private resources, like the funding provided by Delta Dental, we can create affordable housing communities that allow those suffering to recover, provide supportive services, job training and reunification with families."
The PSRH initiative is a collaboration between Cinnaire, the Michigan Governor's Office, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Michigan Treatment Courts.
