As a way of saying thank you, Rep. Sarah Lightner (R-Springport) has offered information to her constituents on how to support their local heroes. According to her GOP House page, Lightner has a great deal of respect for the individuals who selflessly serve the community on a daily basis.

"Few can fully understand the amount of hours our men and women in uniform put into keeping our communities safe, or even have a grasp on what a day in the life of law enforcement encompasses," Lightner said.

Regardless of rank, Lightner said, these local heroes endanger themselves every day in order to ensure that local communities are kept safe. It is impossible for National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to provide an appropriate amount of gratitude to these individuals for their sacrifice.

As a way of building up local heroes, Lightner suggested, individuals can choose to send a thank-you note, wear blue or donate to charities that give back to the police force.
