Mark Huizenga, a Michigan State Senator representing parts of Kent and Ottawa Counties, announced his re-election campaign and highlighted his legislative priorities in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in early November 2025.

On November 2, Huizenga commented on the Detroit Lions' football game against the Minnesota Vikings, writing: "The @Lions are ready to show the Minnesota Vikings how it's done in the North! It's game day at Ford Field, and the fans are fired up for another divisional victory. Go Lions!"

Two days later, on November 4, Huizenga formally declared his intention to seek re-election to the Michigan Senate. In his announcement post he stated: "I’m running for re-election to the Michigan Senate. From day one, I’ve focused on delivering real results for Kent and Ottawa Counties by supporting families, strengthening schools, creating jobs, and keeping our communities safe. Together, we’ve made progress. Let’s keep"

Later that same day, Huizenga reiterated his approach to governance with another post: "Every day in the State Senate, I’ve worked to put people before politics and deliver for West Michigan. Whether it’s supporting families, strengthening small businesses, or standing with our farmers, I believe the best solutions come when we work together. Our communities"

Huizenga has served in the Michigan Senate since January 2023 after previously holding office in local government and as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives.
