Rep. Tim Walberg, U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th district since 2011, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing the ongoing government shutdown and the recent passing of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
On November 3, 2025, Walberg wrote: "Nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers have been working without pay due to the Democrats’ government shutdown. Democrats must stop using these hardworking men and women as political pawns and end this shutdown."
The following day, he commented on the death of Dick Cheney: "My prayers are with the Cheney family following the passing of Dick Cheney, the 46th Vice President of the United States, who was a dedicated public servant in every way. May he rest in peace."
On November 5, Walberg addressed constituents again regarding the ongoing budget impasse: "The Democrats’ government shutdown is now the longest shutdown in American history. Hardworking Michiganders should not be forced to suffer so Democrats can continue to play their political games. It’s time for Senate Democrats to pass the clean government funding bill and"
Tim Walberg has served Michigan's 5th District in Congress since replacing Mark Schauer in 2011. Before joining Congress, he served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton, Walberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University.
