State Representative Sarah Lightner has called for the newly estimated state revenue to be directed towards improving Michigan's infrastructure and providing tax relief to residents. Her comments came following the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference.

Lightner emphasized the importance of addressing the state's infrastructure needs, particularly local roads. "This revenue boost is a tremendous opportunity to refocus Michigan’s priorities and deliver results that truly matter to our residents," she stated. With Republicans now in control of the House, Lightner expressed optimism about addressing neglected infrastructure issues, stating that "safe and reliable infrastructure is essential for families, businesses, and communities."

In addition to infrastructure improvements, Lightner advocated for returning some of the additional revenue to taxpayers. She criticized previous spending by Democrats on corporate incentives and projects lacking transparency. "Michigan families deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money," she asserted.

Lightner stressed accountability in spending decisions moving forward. "We have a responsibility to use this moment to fix what’s broken, strengthen our communities, and deliver relief to the people who make Michigan work," she concluded.
