Rep. Tim Walberg, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th district since 2011, used his social media account on October 8, 2025, to address ongoing issues related to the federal government shutdown and international developments in the Middle East.

In a post published at 16:51 UTC, Walberg stated, "Every day that the government stays shut down is another day that hardworking Michiganders pay the price. The Senate must pass the clean CR." At 19:40 UTC, he added, "Democrats asked for a clean, short-term CR, but have now walked away from our deal and refuse to reopen the government."

Later that evening, Walberg commented on U.S. foreign policy, writing at 23:04 UTC, "President @realDonaldTrump is restoring peace through strength. Two years after the brutal attacks on October 7, all hostages will finally be released as part of the first phase of the President’s plan. This is a historic step towards achieving a lasting peace in the Middle"

Tim Walberg, who replaced Mark Schauer in Congress, has served Michigan’s 5th district for over a decade and previously held office in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951, Walberg currently resides in Tipton and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University.
