TECUMSEH HIGH SCHOOL: Tecumseh Public Schools Awarded Safety Grant

Camera

Tecumseh High School issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.

Tecumseh Public Schools was recently awarded a safety grant for next school year. School Resource Officer Chad Rodgers spearheaded the grant application along with Interim Grants Officer Meghan Way. They asked for $240,000 for additional interior and exterior cameras at all seven of the district’s buildings. The Competitive School Safety Grant Program awarded TPS $210,000, stating that the Administration Building did not qualify for the grant because it doesn’t house any students. Officer Rodgers sees the cameras as a key tool in the safety and security of TPS.

“The ability to monitor the property, both inside and outside, will not only help deter any kind of criminal activity,” said Rodgers. “But will also provide a level of information that we currently don’t have that can be directly utilized by law enforcement or the school staff.”
