Rep. Tim Walberg, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th district since 2011, used his social media platform to criticize Senate Democrats for their actions regarding government funding bills in a series of posts on October 20 and 21, 2025.
On October 20, Walberg stated, "Senate Democrats have voted 10 times against a clean government funding bill in order to placate the radical groups behind the No Kings rallies. Now that the rallies are over, they must come back to the table and reopen the government."
Later that day, he addressed concerns about federal employees’ pay during the government shutdown: "Servicemembers, air traffic controllers, border patrol agents, TSA personnel, and more are facing uncertainty about whether or not they will receive their next paycheck because Senate Democrats are 'terrified of getting the guillotine.' It’s time for Democrats to stand up to"
On October 21, Walberg reiterated his position regarding House Republicans’ efforts: "Over a month ago, @HouseGOP passed a clean, nonpartisan funding bill to keep the government working for the American people. Senate Democrats have failed to pass this bill 11 times now and are demanding $1.5 trillion in new spending including funding healthcare for illegal"
Tim Walberg has represented Michigan’s 5th District since replacing Mark Schauer in 2011 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton, Walberg holds a BA from Taylor University.
