Rep. Tim Walberg, who represents Michigan’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to comment on ongoing government funding disputes and the effects of the shutdown on his constituents.

On October 15, 2025, Walberg stated, "The divide has never been starker – President Trump and Congressional Republicans are delivering peace deals in the Middle East and have responsibly voted to fund the government. Meanwhile, Democrats have voted 9 times to block pay for Capitol Police and are now harassing them". Later that day, he added, "Every day is not getting better for the American people. Senate Democrats must reopen the government."

On October 16, 2025, Walberg posted, "Michiganders continue to feel the effects of the Democrats' radical shutdown. They must stop playing political games and pass the clean government funding bill."

Walberg’s comments come amid a federal government shutdown, which he attributes to Senate Democrats’ actions regarding the passage of a government funding bill.

Tim Walberg has served in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Mark Schauer and previously spent over a decade in the Michigan House of Representatives. Born in Chicago in 1951, he resides in Tipton and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University.
