Adrian College Athletics issued the following announcement.
The Adrian College Athletics Department and Bulldogs men's hockey team are excited to announce the addition of another home-and-home, non-conference series against an
NCAA Division I opponent this weekend, this time in the form of Lake Superior State University (1-0-1 overall). Adrian (2-2) makes the trip to Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie
for a Friday game at 7:07 p.m. and then the Bulldogs host the Lakers at Arrington Ice Arena for a 2:05 p.m. start Sunday.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to add yet another Division I program to our schedule," stated Adrian head coach Adam Krug '12. "We're grateful, not just to be playing, but
also to have such good competition. I'll take this time to express my gratitude publicly to President (Dr. Jeffrey R.) Docking, Athletic Director Mike Duffy and the rest of the Adrian
College Administration for allowing us to do whatever it takes to compete during the current times.
"It was great that (LSSU head coach) Damon (Whitten) reached out when things for their originally scheduled weekend came into question." The Lakers previously scheduled
home-and-home, non-conference series against the Ferris State Bulldogs for Friday, Nov. 27 and Sunday, Nov. 29 has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test result within
Ferris' hockey program.
"The two games with Bowling Green appear to have shown our players what we have to do to be successful at that level," Krug said. "Hopefully, we will get different results this
weekend."
Due to current state mandates in Michigan, spectators will not be allowed to attend games until further notice. There are, however, still a number of ways that fans will be able to
follow the game action. All Bulldogs home games will have free live video by Adrian College Television and be simulcast on campus radio station WVAC 107.9 FM. Adrian fans can
tune into Friday's game at Lake Superior FloHockey, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's streaming partner. For more information or to sign up for a subscription, visit
Adrian is 1-2 lifetime versus NCAA Division I opponents, and will be meeting a second WCHA member in as many weekends following BGSU. The LSSU series replaces a two-
game trip to Utica College in New York that Adrian had planned for Nov. 27-28 but since canceled because of COVID-related issues within the Pioneers' campus and conference.
