City of Jackson issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
The first Jackson City Council meeting of 2021 will be a special meeting to discuss an ongoing ethics investigation. A special virtual meeting of the Jackson City Council has been organized for Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is happening at the request of Councilmembers Jeromy Alexander and Will Forgrave.
According to the official meeting notice, the council will receive, discuss, and consider communications from Councilmembers Laura Dwyer Schlecte and Jeromy Alexander. These communications relate to an ethics investigation launched by the council at their last meeting on Dec. 8. At that meeting, the council directed Councilmember Dwyer Schlecte to submit written answers to questions about her involvement in a developer’s proposal to buy the City-owned Vermeulen’s and Masonic Temple properties.
Residents may participate in the meeting by watching live broadcasts on Comcast Cable Channel 21, the City website, and the City Facebook page. Residents wishing to submit comments for citizen comment time are asked to please submit written comments to the City Clerk’s Office using citizencomments@cityofjackson.org. The comments will be read aloud during the meeting by the City Clerk. They must be under 3 minutes in length.
An agenda and packet for this meeting will be posted in the Agenda Center when they are made available to the public.
