Addison Community Schools issued the following announcement on Aug 3.
Summer school students had the opportunity to interact with horses today. They were able to brush them and then measured their girth, length and height.
The measurements were then used to calculate their weight and height in hands. They also have problems to solve which include finding the price increase of corn oil, how much it costs for the corn oil each day, and how long a gallon of corn oil lasts at the current amount fed each day.
They also needed to find the circumference of a circle, cost of hay for a year for one horse, medication costs per day and year as well as the cost of each horse’s vet bill.
