Adrian Public Schools issued the following announcement on Aug 21.

Adrian High School is sad to report that last night one of our students who is a varsity football player was struck and injured by a car as they walked home from work last night.  The student remains in critical condition at a hospital in Toledo.  Students on the football team have been in communication with their coach and we had a team meeting tonight with crisis counselors to support the needs of our players and coaches.

This unfortunate event on top of a recent positive COVID-19 case within the football team has resulted in a number of students that need to be quarantined under the Lenawee County Health Department order.  Students in quarantine were able to join via google meet.

As a result of these events, we are canceling the first varsity football game of the season, August 27, that was scheduled to take place against Madison.  Please keep our student, player, friend, and fellow Maple in your thoughts.
