A huge thank you to Friend of the Museum Laura Fox | Fenton Historical Society and The A. J. Phillips Museum

A huge thank you to Friend of the Museum Laura Fox, who shared some awesome info with us about her Great Grandparents' Fenton business, Licata Shoe & Repair, which was located in the South Side Business Building. (Think Fenton House.)

Laura says Sam and Mary Licata came to Fenton from Italy in the 60's, and they ran their business there until 1988, living in an apartment just upstairs from the shoe repair.

She tells us Sam used to sit outside during his breaks and converse with the locals in his broken English. He loved people, and people loved him.

Laura gave us, and we now share with you, some family paintings, a very cool/informative 70's postcard, and Great Grandma Licata's M&M cookie recipe. (No, you may not have it!) We also added a couple shots of the South Side Business District in the 70's from the digital archives.

Do you remember Licata Shoe & Repair? Enjoy!
