Madison School District (Lenawee) welcomed 1,644 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,644 students enrolled in Madison School District (Lenawee) in the 2022-23 school year, 1.8% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.1% of them were girls, and 47.9% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 65.1% of the Madison School District (Lenawee) total enrollment.

Madison School District (Lenawee) covers three schools within Lenawee County with its main office in Adrian. Among them, Madison Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 808 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
