Congressman Tim Walberg has announced that his office is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Congressional App Challenge. The contest, which is open to middle and high school students in Michigan's 5th District, encourages participants to create a software application on any platform they choose.
"Coding skills are in high demand in today's economy, and it is vital that we help prepare our students for future career opportunities," stated Rep. Walberg. "I invite students to participate in this year's Congressional App Challenge as a fun opportunity to further develop their technical skills and showcase their creative abilities. As a strong supporter of STEM education, I look forward to seeing the innovative work being done by the talented and creative students in our district."
Students have until October 30, 2025, to submit their applications. A panel of judges will evaluate the entries and select a winner. The competition welcomes all eligible students regardless of prior coding experience. The winning app from Michigan's 5th District will be showcased in the U.S. Capitol and on the Congressional App Challenge website alongside other national winners.
