Rep. Tim Walberg, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 5th district since 2011, has recently expressed his concerns regarding antisemitism in educational institutions across the United States through a series of tweets.
On May 7, 2025, Rep. Walberg emphasized the importance of ensuring that Jewish students have a safe learning environment free from antisemitic threats and harassment. He stated, "Whether it’s an Ivy League university on the east coast or a public school on the west coast, Jewish students deserve a safe learning environment free from antisemitic threats and harassment."
Later that day, Rep. Walberg reiterated his commitment to addressing this issue as Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee. He mentioned holding universities accountable for their response to discrimination against Jewish students. In his tweet, he expressed gratitude towards students like Michael for their efforts: "As Chairman of the @EdWorkforceCmte, I remain committed to holding these universities accountable as they choose to stand idly by rather than meaningfully address the harassment of and discrimination against Jewish students on their campuses. Thank you to students like Michael".
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Walberg invited readers to explore further insights into his views by reading his recent op-ed published in The Washington Times Op-Ed section: "Read my recent op-ed in the @WashTimesOpEd ".
