Rep. Tim Walberg, U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th district since 2011, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing education policy, crime prevention, and permitting reform.

On September 9, 2025, Walberg reflected on recent education developments following a visit by the Secretary of Education to Hillsdale and Detroit. He wrote: "I enjoined joining @WJRradio to discuss @EdSecMcMahon’s visit in Hillsdale and Detroit yesterday. Today’s NAEP scores are a tragic reminder of what happens when we fail to put students first. By returning education to the states, we can empower parents and local communities and https://t.co/GOqzvlnbFR".

Later that day, Walberg commented on a violent incident involving Iryna Zarutska. He stated: "Sue and I are praying for the family of Iryna Zarutska after this heinous and preventable crime. We must restore law and order to prevent future tragedies from taking place. https://t.co/MqKEghlsgx" (September 9, 2025).

The following day, Walberg addressed regulatory processes in energy infrastructure, posting: "We must streamline our permitting process to power the next several decades of potential. https://t.co/OoG23cGJSU" (September 10, 2025).

Walberg has represented Michigan’s 5th District in Congress since defeating Mark Schauer in 2011 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951, he currently resides in Tipton and holds a BA from Taylor University.
