Rep. Tim Walberg, U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th district since 2011, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing ongoing issues including government shutdown impacts, campus antisemitism, and public safety concerns.
On October 6, 2025, Walberg urged caution regarding scams and linked the issue to the current government shutdown, stating: "Please be cautious when opening any messages and report any scams to the Attorney General’s Office. Democrats must reopen the government to prevent Michiganders from being further harmed."
Addressing campus safety and antisemitism on October 7, 2025, he wrote: "Two years after Hamas’ despicable terrorist attack, Jewish students and faculty members across the United States are still experiencing unprecedented antisemitic harassment. Republicans will continue to protect Jews on campus, especially as education bureaucrats fail to do so."
Later that same day, Walberg highlighted the economic consequences of the ongoing federal shutdown for Michigan: "Michigan loses out on $361 million in economic activity for each week that the shutdown drags on. Senate Democrats must reopen the government for the American people."
Tim Walberg was born in Chicago in 1951 and resides in Tipton. He graduated from Taylor University with a BA and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999 before joining Congress in 2011.
