Rep. Tim Walberg, who represents Michigan’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media addressing recent developments involving the release of hostages by Hamas, the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy, and the ongoing effects of a government shutdown on FAA workers.
On October 13, 2025, Walberg commented on what he described as a significant milestone in international affairs: "Today is a historic day. After two long years, all of the remaining living hostages have been released by Hamas. Thank you President @realDonaldTrump for your leadership and unwavering commitment to delivering lasting peace."
Later that same day, Walberg recognized a major anniversary for a branch of the armed forces: "Today marks the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy! Thank you to all the men and women who have served for your sacrifice and dedication to our great country. May fair seas and a following wind be with you always."
On October 14, 2025, Walberg shared his observations from a visit to Jackson County Airport regarding the federal government shutdown: "I had the opportunity to stop by the Jackson County Airport to hear about how the ongoing shutdown is impacting their operations and speak to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) worker on how the shutdown is affecting him. Currently, most of our FAA employees, including air"
Walberg has represented Michigan’s 5th district in Congress since 2011 after previously serving in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. He was born in Chicago in 1951 and currently resides in Tipton. Walberg holds a BA from Taylor University.
