Tim Walberg addresses end of government shutdown and support for local manufacturing

Rep. Tim Walberg, who represents Michigan’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing the end of a prolonged government shutdown and his support for manufacturing policies in his state.

On November 13, 2025, Walberg issued a statement following the passage of a continuing resolution to end what he described as the Democrats’ government shutdown: "My statement on the passage of the continuing resolution to end the Democrats’ 43-day government shutdown https://t.co/ZocKefu9W0".

Later that day, he elaborated on his position regarding the shutdown and its impact on Michigan residents. On November 13, 2025, he wrote: "The Democrats put hardworking Michiganders through 43 days of unnecessary pain.

Last night, we ended their shutdown and will now be able to return to regular order and deliver more results for the American people. https://t.co/f9xwO1MVfm".

The following day, Walberg highlighted his visit to Colson Group in Albion and discussed policies supporting domestic manufacturing. On November 14, 2025, he stated: "I enjoyed visiting Colson Group, a caster and wheel manufacturer in Albion, to discuss how Made in America policies like those included in the Working Families Tax Cuts are allowing them to expand their business.

Policies like making the small business tax deduction permanent https://t.co/Z4pIqPXZoc".

Tim Walberg has served as Michigan’s 5th District representative since 2011 after replacing Mark Schauer. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton at age 72, Walberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University.
