Michigan State Senator Roger Victory testified before a Senate committee on Wednesday to advocate for legislation aimed at curbing robocall scams. Victory, a Republican from Hudsonville, presented the case for a package of bipartisan bills intended to strengthen enforcement and improve consumer protections against fraudulent robocalls.
“Michigan families should be able to live their lives without being harassed by scam robocalls,” said Victory. “This bipartisan legislation would make commonsense reforms to put a stop to the robocall scams that take advantage of Michigan consumers, especially our senior citizens.
“These reforms would improve consumer protections and safeguard our residents from malicious and unfair telephone solicitations.”
The proposed Senate Bills 351-355 are currently under review by the Senate Committee on Finance, Insurance and Consumer Protection. Victory expressed optimism about the progress of the legislation, stating that he expects the measures will soon be reported to the full Senate for consideration.
