Senator Roger Victory and other Republican leaders held a press conference at the Capitol on Thursday, calling for the immediate resignations of Michigan State Police Director Col. James Grady and Deputy Director Lt. Col. Aimee Brimacombe.

The demand follows a recent report accusing Grady of repeated workplace harassment, including favoritism and retaliation. The report also alleges that Brimacombe misused state resources for personal benefit.

A poll conducted by the Michigan State Police Troopers Association showed that 98% of its members expressed no confidence in both Grady and Brimacombe.

"Transparency and accountability are essential here in the state of Michigan," said Victory, R-Hudsonville. "For our state troopers to be their best, they need strong and honest leaders. Failure of these individuals to lead with integrity erodes the public trust in one of our state's most respected institutions."

During the press conference, Republican leaders announced they had sent a letter to Governor Gretchen Whitmer demanding that Grady and Brimacombe resign or be removed from their positions if they do not comply.

Victory has previously served as chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety from 2021 to 2022.
