Meetingschl

City of Jackson issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.

Here’s what happened at the Jackson City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 17th, 2019.

This was the last council meeting of 2019, and it was a short one, lasting around 30 minutes.

A topic of discussion was a proposal to change the special assessment structure so property owners would pay less in special assessments for repairs to public alleys. It was approved unanimously.

The council also discussed and subsequently approved changes to the City Manager’s employment contract.

Also at the meeting, more than a dozen residents were appointed to various city boards and commissions.

And the council approved a tax incentive for a new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen that’s being built at the corner of N. West Avenue and Argyle Street.

The first city council meeting of 2020 is Tuesday, January 14th.
