CITY OF JACKSON: Weather Warning: Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding Expected In Jackson

Rain

City of Jackson issued the following announcement on Jan. 14.

The City of Jackson is asking residents to be aware of extreme amounts of rain that's anticipated to impact the area this weekend.

Jackson County Emergency Management says this could result in unprecedented flooding of the Grand River and the downtown area could see flash flooding.

The river is expected to crest on Wednesday and is projected to be the highest level in history.

Residents should be prepared for a potential disruption of business and services for those areas along the Grand River. Because of the heavy rain,

Public Works crews are suspending leaf collection so they can clean catch basins, sewer grates and ensure critical functions will not be impacted by the expected flooding.

Images from the US National Weather Service go into further detail about the weather event and impacted areas.

The City will keep residents updated on any important information regarding the weather event.
