CITY OF HILLSDALE: Lifted Ban on Burn Permits

Burningopen

City of Hillsdale issued the following announcement on April 29.

Effective immediately the City of Hillsdale is lifting the ban on burn permits within the city limits. Burning is now permitted in accordance with Chapter 16 of the Hillsdale Municipal Code of Ordinances.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources lifted their ban on this date stating that Fire Departments have now had enough time to establish “better protocols” when responding to Covid-19, along with the fact that vegetation has “greened up” so fire potential can now be regulated based on local fire danger ratings.

I wish to thank the Hillsdale Community for their assistance and compliance during the ban which was put into place as a measure to comply with avoidable community contact which ensured our Fire and Police personnel limited their potential exposure to Covid-19 so they could be available to respond to unavoidable emergency calls.
