State Representative Kathy Schmaltz has announced that the Jackson County Department of Transportation has been granted funding from the state to improve Airport Road in Blackman Charter Township. The $375,000 grant from the state Transportation Economic Development Fund will contribute to the resurfacing of a portion of Airport Road, making it safer and more efficient for residents and commuters.
The project, scheduled for 2025, will involve milling and resurfacing with two courses of asphalt, as well as upgrades to sidewalk ramps to meet ADA standards, replacing curbs, and painting new pavement markings. This comprehensive approach aims to create a smoother driving experience for motorists while ensuring accessibility for all pedestrians.
Expressing her gratitude, Representative Schmaltz, R-Jackson, emphasized the importance of investing in road improvements. She stated, "Fixing the roads is one of my main priorities because I know it's important to the people in our community.
