Rep. Tim Walberg, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 5th district, shared a series of tweets expressing his views on education and political developments. Walberg, who has been in office since 2011, took to social media to discuss merit-based educational approaches, his recent election as Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee, and civil rights enforcement under the Biden administration.

On December 12, 2024, Rep. Tim Walberg advocated for a return to merit-based educational approaches. He stated that such a shift would "not only increase efficiency but fuel a race for better outcomes," emphasizing that "our students deserve better." "Returning to merit-based approaches will not only increase efficiency but fuel a race for better outcomes. Our students deserve better."

Later that day, Walberg announced his election as the next Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee. He expressed readiness to work alongside key figures in government to fulfill their mandate from the American people. "It’s an honor to have been elected as the next Chairman of @EdWorkforceCmte. The American people have given us a mandate, and we’re ready to deliver."

On December 13, 2024, Walberg criticized the Biden administration for insufficient enforcement of civil rights protections for students on campus. He indicated that this would change under Donald Trump's leadership with Harmeet Dhillon's nomination sending "a clear message" against discrimination and harassment. "During the Biden administration, not enough was done to enforce civil rights protections for students on campus."
