Rep. Tim Walberg reflects on Independence Day and legislative progress

Rep. Tim Walberg, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 5th district, shared a series of tweets over the Independence Day weekend and the following days. His posts reflect on national celebrations, legislative achievements, and political commitments.

On July 4, 2025, Rep. Walberg extended his wishes for Independence Day, marking the country's 249th anniversary. He expressed gratitude towards those who have served to protect American freedoms: "Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate 249 years as a country, we express our gratitude for all those who have served to defend the freedoms we enjoy as Americans."

Later that day, he highlighted a recent legislative achievement by the House GOP. In his tweet from July 4, 2025, he mentioned the passage of "One Big, Beautiful Bill," which aims to prevent significant tax hikes and further President Trump's America First agenda: "ICYMI: Yesterday @HouseGOP passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a generational investment that will prevent the largest tax hike on Americans in history and advance President Trump’s America first agenda. Let’s get it signed into law!"

On July 7, 2025, Rep. Walberg reiterated his commitment to fulfilling promises made during his tenure with a succinct message: "Promises made, promises kept!"

Tim Walberg has been representing Michigan's 5th District since replacing Mark Schauer in 2011. Prior to his congressional service, he was part of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton at age 72, Walberg holds a BA from Taylor University.
