Rep. Tim Walberg, who has represented Michigan’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, posted a series of messages on social media this week highlighting historical milestones and ongoing legislative efforts.
On August 4, 2025, Walberg commemorated the founding of the U.S. Coast Guard by Alexander Hamilton in 1790. He wrote, "On this day in 1790, Alexander Hamilton established the U.S. Coast Guard. We recognize and honor the efforts of the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard who protect our waters and shores.

Later that same day, Walberg acknowledged National Farmers Market Week with a message directed at Michigan farmers: "Happy National Farmers Market Week! Thank you to all our farmers in Michigan for keeping our food supply strong. Find a market near you here https://t.co/Rd5gYFtfQt".
On August 5, he addressed concerns about air traffic control modernization: "The Federal Aviation Administration has been trying to modernize our air traffic control system for decades but has fallen short with a system that relies on outdated technology like floppy disks.
The One Big, Beautiful Bill will help us to usher in the next generation of".
Tim Walberg was born in Chicago in 1951 and currently resides in Tipton. Before joining Congress in 2011—replacing Mark Schauer—he served from 1983 to 1999 in the Michigan House of Representatives. Walberg holds a BA from Taylor University.
