U.S. Representative Tim Walberg, who represents Michigan’s 5th district in Congress, recently highlighted legislative efforts and commemorated a somber anniversary through a series of posts on his official X account.
On August 23, 2025, Walberg promoted new tax legislation aimed at seniors, stating: "The One Big, Beautiful Bill provides the largest tax break in history for our nation’s seniors. Under the legislation 88% of all seniors who receive Social Security will see their tax deductions exceed their taxable Social Security income, meaning they will no longer pay federal".
Two days later, on August 25, 2025, he turned attention to economic policy supporting manufacturing and working families: "The One Big Beautiful Bill supports Michigan’s auto industry and helps working class families. By incentivizing made-in-America and allowing Americans who buy an American-made vehicle to fully deduct their auto loan interest, we will unleash American manufacturing dominance."
On August 26, 2025, Walberg marked the fourth anniversary of a significant loss for U.S. armed forces: "Today marks four years since the Abbey Gate terrorist attack in Afghanistan which tragically claimed the lives of 13 of our servicemembers. We will forever honor those who were killed that day and will continue to stand with their families."
Tim Walberg has served as a member of Congress representing Michigan's 5th District since 2011 after succeeding Mark Schauer. He previously held office in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton, Walberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University.
