City of Adrian issued the following announcement on May 29.
Mayor Sword-Heath and the Adrian City Commission are pleased to announce that they have authorized the City to apply for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation “Match on Main” COVID Recovery Program. The program brings grant dollars to businesses in traditional downtowns who have been impacted by the COVID pandemic.
Should the City be selected to receive these grant funds, eligible businesses may receive grants between $2,000 and $10,000. Eligible Adrian businesses must: be located within the Downtown Development Authority District; sell products and/or services face to face AND have a physical location downtown; be operating as a for-profit business; have 25 employees or less; be headquartered in Michigan; and demonstrate they have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Ineligible businesses include: non-profits, franchises, “big box” retailers, marijuana-related businesses and/or any other business deemed ineligible by the MEDC. In addition, the businesses included in the application must not have received or been approved to receive support from the Michigan Strategic Fund’s Small Business Relief Program (Grant or Loan) as administered in conjunction with regional economic development organizations or an MEDC Match on Main Grant within the last 24 months.
The minimum number of businesses needed to apply for the grant is 5. The maximum number of businesses is 25. Submissions will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
