City of Morenci issued the following announcement on July 14.
The City of Morenci has been made aware of an untrue rumor that is circulating regarding the gas main break on East Street South. The rumor is that drinking water is unsafe and should not be drank due to the gas main break.
Well, we are here to set the record straight. A gas main break has nothing to do water. Water is safe to drink. Gas mains is a totally unrelated systems to the City of Morenci’s water system.
