City of Hillsdale recently issued the following announcement.
Hear ye hear ye! We will be featuring 3 artists every day this week until this Saturday's Art Around Town event. Meet Amy Howe, Nick Zemaiduk and David Hummel!
Amy Howe is an artist that dabbles in many different mediums. Her current obsession is acrylic pouring. She says this style amazes her every time! It's never the same result and she love the process! Photography is another passion of hers, but she is not very active with it now. Amy graduated in 1996 from Camden frontier. She received an associate degree from Jackson college and met my husband there. They were married in 1999 and have one son. Amy is a lifelong Hillsdale resident, she, and her husband own Bill’s Lawn Care. Amy is the owner of Amy Howe’s Photography and Art and is a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Denny groves. She is proud to be part of the Hillsdale community.
Nick Zemaiduk, who started out as a sign painter, has evolved with the changes his artistic medium has taken him. Where he once did lettering, that expertise has taken him into a realm of graphics and composition that carry on through his present work. Zemaiduk said he began painting seriously in 2002, but he has sketches he did
when he was in high school. He’s always created in one form or another, also writing poetry for a period. As technology evolved, learning air-brush techniques is something Zemaiduk said has enhanced his art. Most of his paintings are mixed-media.
David Hummel , our only non-local artist graduated with a BFA from Bowling Green State University in Spring of 2020. He has worked primarily in clay, creating utilitarian vessels. His interest in formal relationships in utilitarian pottery has lead him to develop vessels through wheel throwing and hand building skills. David is currently firing in electric kilns, working in his basement in Bowling Green.
