Hate Has No Home Here

Council

City of Portage issued the following announcement on Sept 2.

In April 2021, the Portage City Council adopted a resolution to condemn hate crimes, hateful rhetoric, and hateful acts. The resolution stated, “As civic leaders, it is our duty to promote respect, inclusion, and a welcoming community for people of all races, national origins.”

In support of the City Council’s resolution, the City Administration launched a city-wide public service campaign condemning hate crimes, hateful rhetoric and hateful acts. The campaign includes a new video encouraging those who witness hateful activity to safely report such acts.  The video can be viewed on the City of Portage website.

All Portage citizens can play a role in establishing a safe and welcoming community by reporting instances of hate and discrimination. Portage citizens who experience or witness hate crimes are encouraged to report such incidents to local law enforcement.
