City of Fenton recently issued the following announcement.
A holiday decoration contest that only comes to the City of Fenton once every 16 years has its winner: The Brad Hoffman Agency on Leroy Street downtown.
A tradition started in 2012 for members of the Genesee County Small Cities and Villages Association, the Festival of Lights trophy has traveled annually to another of the 16 member cities, where a local business wins recognition for the best holiday display. This year was the City of Fenton's turn.
The rules were simple: The display had to be viewable from in front of the business. The winter window scene is captivating and includes a snowman, a sleigh and gift boxes covered in sparkly glitter. And while it wasn't a requirement, the agency's decorations can be found throughout the office, decorating walls, ceiling and desks.
"We do a window display for every holiday like this, even on Valentine's Day," said Linda Hathaway, president of the agency. She said the staff was thrilled to win the silver, lighted trophy.
City Council Member Scott Grossmeyer, the city's representative to the association, presented Hathaway and staff with the trophy. The contest was judged by the city's Beautification Commission.
It will be Flushing's turn to host the trophy when the 2022 holidays come around.
