In 2018 Saline voters passed a charter amendment to formally incorporate language adopting a 1.0 mil tax levy for the purposes of street and right-of-way improvements. Since 2019, the first year of that tax levy, the millage has been used to support annual street improvement projects that could not otherwise be accomplished by state or federal aid dollars alone. That voter approved millage is set to expire in 2023. At its meeting on August 1, 2022 the Saline City Council approved ballot language to ask the voters of Saline to renew that millage for a three year term starting in 2024. Voters will consider the request during the November 2022 election.
