Rep. Tim Walberg, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan's 5th district, recently addressed concerns regarding education and social media through a series of tweets. His statements reflect his ongoing involvement with the Education and Workforce Committee.

On December 4, 2024, Rep. Walberg expressed concern over the current state of educational institutions in the United States. He stated, "The test scores are staggering. Many of our educational institutions are in a crisis, and parents have had enough of the indoctrination of their kids." He also thanked the Education and Workforce Committee for holding a critical hearing on these issues.

The following day, December 5, 2024, he highlighted the impact of social media on children by referencing Jonathan Haidt's book "The Anxious Generation." In his tweet, he said, "As @JonHaidt points out in his book, The Anxious Generation, social media usage is doing irrevocable harm to our kids." He emphasized the need for increased protection against online dangers and mentioned that the Education and Workforce Committee would continue examining these challenges.

Later that same day, Rep. Walberg commented on efforts to enhance diversity of thought in American campuses. He remarked that "This is a step in a positive direction as we seek to restore diversity of thought and expression on campuses across America." He reiterated the committee's commitment to promoting merit-based approaches in education and employment sectors.
