Congressman Tim Walberg has introduced the Brownfields Broadband Deployment Act aimed at removing barriers to building wireless transmission infrastructure on brownfield sites. This initiative seeks to advance broadband deployment efforts.
"In today's digital age, it is vital that Americans have access to broadband whether it be for telehealth visits, homework, or staying connected," said Rep. Walberg. "However there are still far too many individuals who lack access to broadband internet and the many benefits it has to offer. Onerous regulations for broadband deployment on brownfield sites can often delay connection for digitally underserved areas. This legislation would help streamline the development of new infrastructure so we can accelerate broadband deployment and close the digital divide."
Walberg holds a position as co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Rural Broadband Caucus. Further details about his work in Congress can be found at walberg.house.gov.
