Sen. Roger Victory has addressed Michigan's ongoing housing affordability issues through a series of public statements on social media. In his posts, he outlines new legislative efforts aimed at easing the financial burdens faced by families and young professionals seeking homeownership in the state.

On July 14, 2025, Sen. Victory stated, "Families and young professionals continue to struggle to start a life here in Michigan because of the cost of housing. That's why I have introduced legislation to help address Michigan's housing crisis."

In a subsequent post on the same day, he provided further details about Senate Bill 442: "SB 442 would provide a property tax exemption for nonprofits that build housing for the middle class, where we have a shortage of more than 5,000 homes in my district alone. This will help us grow Michigan and make the dream of home ownership a reality for more Michiganders."

He also emphasized the intended beneficiaries of his proposed bill: "My bill would provide tax relief to nonprofits that build housing for hard-working Michiganders including teachers, nurses, first responders and many others who may be unable to plant roots in Michigan."

Senate Bill 442 is part of broader legislative efforts to expand access to affordable housing in Michigan by incentivizing nonprofit development targeted at middle-class residents.
