State Representative Kathy Schmaltz has commended the Jackson Area Manufacturers’ Association (JAMA) for securing a $5,000 Reconnect Now Grant. The grant aims to aid local adult learners in accessing tuition-free education and strengthening the workforce in Jackson County.

The Michigan College Access Network awarded the grant to support JAMA’s initiatives to promote the Michigan Reconnect program. This program provides tuition coverage for eligible adults seeking an associate degree or skilled certificate at community colleges.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work the Jackson Area Manufacturers’ Association is doing to empower local workers and help local businesses find the skilled talent they need,” said Schmaltz, R-Jackson. “By helping more adults return to school and complete their education, they’re creating better opportunities for families and ensuring the local manufacturing industry continues to thrive.”

Funding for the Michigan College Access Network’s Reconnect Now Grant program comes from a state appropriation with additional backing from philanthropic partners.
