Sen. Roger Victory has expressed support for the expansion of Hudsonville Creamery and Ice Cream Co.'s facility in Holland, Michigan. The project will be backed by a state grant.

“This project will bring in at least $40 million in private investment and create 44 well-paying jobs,” said Victory, R-Hudsonville. “This is great news for our community and the entire region, and I applaud Hudsonville Ice Cream for its continued commitment to West Michigan.

“This is the type of economic development support we should be focusing on — a project that offers an excellent return on investment for taxpayers, with a job provider that has a long history in our state.”

The planned $40 million investment involves renovating and modifying the current dairy production room to make space for a new novelty bar production line. This work will include upgrades to plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, as well as installation of new machinery and equipment.

To aid the expansion, Hudsonville Ice Cream will receive up to $700,000 through a performance-based state grant. The company is also set to benefit from a 15-year exemption from the State Essential Services Assessment valued at up to $599,275.
