Ogma Brewing Co. in downtown Jackson will receive a $25,000 state grant to expand its outdoor beer garden. The funding comes from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Match on Main program and is intended to help install a permanent concrete stage, an outdoor bar, more seating, greenery, and fencing at the venue.

According to State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz, R-Jackson, these upgrades are expected to make Ogma Brewing Co. a more vibrant gathering place for the community. “Ogma Brewing Co. has become a place where people connect, celebrate, and support local talent,” said Schmaltz. “These improvements will help them continue to grow and provide even more opportunities for community engagement in downtown Jackson. It’s a great example of how investing in local businesses strengthens the heart of our city.”

The brewery has already hosted over 20 outdoor events during the past two summers. With the planned improvements, Ogma aims to double its event offerings and accommodate up to 100 guests. The expansion is expected to boost sales and draw additional visitors downtown.

Ogma Brewing Co. is among 63 small businesses statewide awarded grants through this round of Match on Main funding. In total, $1.49 million was distributed across Michigan as part of efforts to promote local business growth and revitalize downtown areas.

The Match on Main program offers grants up to $25,000 for place-based businesses located in central commercial districts or core downtowns. The initiative focuses on supporting projects that enhance business resilience and create welcoming environments for communities.
