Tim Walberg discusses education policy and national issues in August social media posts

U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg, representing Michigan’s 5th district, shared a series of posts on August 8, 2025, highlighting his views on education policy, foreign influence in higher education, environmental protection, and national leadership.

In a post at 14:44 UTC, Walberg emphasized the importance of local control in education: "By empowering parents, states, and local communities, we can better address the unique needs of each student. I’m proud to work alongside @EdSecMcMahon to ensure that every student receives a quality education that helps them succeed."

Later that day at 15:19 UTC, he referenced an appearance on a podcast to discuss topics including foreign influence in higher education and environmental issues affecting the Great Lakes: "I enjoyed joining @Insidepod1992 to discuss everything from deterring foreign influence in higher education to protecting the Great Lakes. Tim Walberg has represented Michigan’s 5th district in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Mark Schauer. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1983 to 1999. Born in Chicago in 1951 and currently residing in Tipton at age 72, Walberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Taylor University.
